The Almaden Valley Rotary Club is proud to present the Annual Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game, the Silicon Valley Youth Classic. This year is our 36th year of honoring graduating senior high school football players. The game is be played at 7:30 pm Wednesday, July 21st, 2010 at Spartan Stadium.

Congratulations to the Head Football COACHES, Mike Carrozzo of Leland High School for the South; and Matt Haniger of Archbishop Mitty High School for the North. They will soon be selecting their players from the list of players nominated by the head football coaches of the Santa Clara County high schools. That selection should be complete by the end of February.

The letters were sent out in November to all the head football coaches of the Santa Clara County high schools for the 2010 game. Each of the coaches were tasked to nominate up to three qualified seniors for the All Star Football Game. Responses have come in and most of the coaches have responded. Also included was a request for information on the cheerleader coordinator for each school.

Check out last year's BANQUET where all the coaches and players were honored. The banquet occurred on Monday, May 18th at the 300 San Jose. The keynote speaker was Jim Tomsula, Defensive Line Coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He was introduced by the Master of Ceremonies, Bob Braunstein, Executive Producer Host for CAL-HI Sports Bay Area. The photos taken by the game photographer, Jerry Costanzo, at the banquet are used for the game program. There also are candid pictures taken which are on the banquet page. We had a GREAT crowd! This year's banquet is scheduled for Monday, May 17th at the 300 San Jose bowling center.

We have a very preliminary list of ALUMNI. Click HERE to view this list. Two tickets are available to every one of the past participants of the All Star games but you must get in touch with us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to receive the tickets. Free tickets will not be available at the game.

Thanks to all the SPONSORS of the past. We will always be looking for a few large sponsors in the future. We have been blessed with many smaller sponsors that have made this game possible and allowed us to donate to many charities over the past years.

One of the primary charities is ALS. Charlie Wedemeyer has been an inspirational representative and has been a part of the Santa Clara County All-Star Football since ..... Read all about his story.

The game in 2009 was another BIG success. The game ended in the third tie of its history. The final score was 28-28 and turned out to be a very exciting game. Read the San Jose Mercury News article about the game.

The Official Photos of the game by our game photographer are available. The first 100 of the nearly 400 photos by Jerry Costanzo of The Open Shutter are available of the game.
