Mercury News Comments:
Bates was a workhorse for the Wildcats and gained 2,392 yards rushing and a CCS-best 30 touchdowns in 293 carries. Bates, co-MVP of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division, also had 10 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown. He rushed for a season-high 300 yards and six touchdowns in a win over Milpitas.
