Mercury News Comments:
Wendt will be remembered for playing an entire game after breaking his right fibula on the second play against Independence. The Blossom Valley Athletic League Mount Hamilton Division defensive player of the year missed the final three games, but he played a huge role in a 36-24 victory over Oak Grove that was crucial to Leigh's co-championship. Also an outstanding tight end, Wendt was "arguably the best two-way player in the section," Coach Shawn Thomas said.
