Mercury News Comment:
A three-time all-Tri-County Athletic League selection, Best excelled at center and at defensive end. The Mustangs used him as a pulling blocker, a rare responsibility for a center, and Best was selected as the TCAL's most valuable lineman. Defensively, Best had 10 1/2 sacks and 46 tackles.
