If there was an award for the most spectacular player in the CCS, Ellis would surely get it. It wasn't just that he rushed for 1,527 yards in 157 carries (9.7 average), but it was his elusive, shifty style that tacklers never could solve. Ellis also had two interceptions from his cornerback position and returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
