Montesano was selected as the most valuable defensive player in the Mount Hamilton Division. He combined good speed with power and discipline and was known as an excellent run stopper on a defense that allowed just 14 points per game. A team captain, Montesano had one of his best games in an 18-15 victory over Leigh with 10 tackles and a sack. He had 85 tackles this season.
