The most valuable player of the Mount Hamilton Division struck fear into defenses with his arm and legs. One of the more versatile athletes in the section, McCain helped lead the Pirates to the Division I semifinals a year after they finished 1-9. He rushed for 1,139 yards and eight touchdowns and threw for 2,229 yards while completing 54 percent of his passes with 25 touchdowns. As a defensive back, he intercepted three passes and made 35 tackles
