Jeff Garcia makes a living out of picking on defensive backs. But when he played in the 1988 All Star Team for the South, he starred as a defensive back.

Doug Cosbie is a success story of a football player who played in the very first High School All Star Game in 1974.

Jeff Ulbrich was selected in the third round by the San Francisco 49ers.
This is a picture of Jeff when he played in the 21st Annual Charlie Wedemeyer All Star Football Game. He graduated from Live Oak in 1995 and attended the University of Hawaii.

Doug Cosbie Saint Francis - Played for Santa Clara University, joined the NFL Dallas Cowboys; made All-Pro and played for Dallas in the Super Bowl.
Gary Lynn Los Gatos - Played for Stanford University
Don Schwartz Archbishop Mitty-Played for the NFL St. Louis Cardinals and New Orlean Saints
Millard Hampton Silver Creek - Member of the U.S. Olympic team in Montreal, Canada. Gold medal winner in the USA 400-meter relay and silver medalist in the 200-meter event
Otis Page Saratoga - Played for USC and on three winning USC Rose Bowl teams
Pete Pele Archbishop Mitty - Played for UCLA and in the Rose Bowl, defeating Ohio State
Steve Bauer Los Gatos - Played in the Rose Bowl for the University of Washington. Coached the Santa Clara County All Star Game in 1985 and 1987
Rick Foley Leigh - Played for Santa Clara University and went on to play professional baseball
Dave Calderon James Lick - All-American at Gavilan College. Played both football and baseball at Fullerton. Played with L.A. Rams N.F.L. and N.Y. Giants scout team before going on to play in the C.F.L. in Canada

Jeff Toews Del Mar - Played in the Rose Bowl for the University of Washington; joined the NFL Miami Dolphins, and played in Super Bowl XIX against the San Francisco 49ers
Kyle Heinrich Saratoga - Played in the Rose Bowl for the University of Washington
Paul Jones Archbishop Mitty - Played for the University of California at Berkeley
Howard Meyer Branham - Played for the University of Notre Dame
Larry Worman Saratoga - Played for the University of Nevada, Reno; joined the NFL San Francisco 49ers
Ed Buller Leland - Coached the Oak Grove High School football team and was one of the head coaches for the All Star football games in 1984 and 1989

Carl Monroe Overfelt - Played with the NFL San Francisco 49ers. Carl scored a touchdown in the 1985 Super Bowl against Miami.

John Tuggle Independence - Played for the University of California at Berkeley and the NFL New York Giants

Ben Bennett Peterson - Played for Duke University, USFL, Indoor Football League, and coached the All Star football game
Marty Mornhinweg Oak Grove - Played for Montana University, coached the All Star game, coached for the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl, coached for the San Francisco 49ers, and is now the head coach for the Detroit Lions
Kent Cooper Los Gatos - Went on to play professional baseball
Lindsay Meggs Saratoga - Went on to play professional baseball
Mike Holmgren Oak Grove Football Coach and a member of the 1980 All Star game coaching staff. Mike played for USC and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was the Offensive Coordinator for Brigham Young University and the NFL San Francisco 49ers, then joined the NFL Green Bay Packers as Head Coach. He is now with the Seattle Seahawks.
1981
Ken Caminiti Leigh - Played baseball at San Jose State, and started as the 1997 National League All-Star third baseman for the San Diego Padres. He is now with the Texas Rangers.
John Faylor Archbishop Mitty - Played for Santa Clara University and the NFL San Francisco 49ers
Kurt Heinrich Saratoga - Played at UOP. Now the head varsity football coach at Saratoga.
John Hendy Wilcox - Played for Long Beach State and was selected to pley in the East-West Shrine game and the Senior Bowl. Went on to play for the San Diego Chargers and was named to the 1985 NFL All-Rookie Team.
Jacque Robinson San Jose - Played in the Rose Bowl for the University of Washington and was voted Most Valuable Player of the game
Kevin Tanner Saratoga - Played at Santa Clara University. He is now a coach at Saratoga
Rick Worman Saratoga - Played for the University of Nevada-Reno, and the Canadian Football League.
1982
Erik Howard Bellarmine - Joined the NFL New York Giants. Played in the 1987 Super Bowl, winning over Denver.
1983
Greg Calcagno Saint Francis - Played for Santa Clara University
Randy Kirk Bellarmine - Played for the San Francisco 49ers as the squad's long snapper.
1984
Eric Volta Santa Clara - Played for Stanford University
Bill Haselman Saratoga - Played baseball at UCLA. Played for the Boston Red Sox, and is now a catcher for the Texas Rangers.
1985
Todd Mayo Los Gatos - Joined the Montreal Expos baseball team
Paul Marcy Homestead - Played for Santa Clara University
1986
Tim Ryan Oak Grove - Played in the Rose Bowl for USC, and joined the NFL Chicago Bears
Joe Marinello Cupertino - Played football at Sonoma State and went on to coach varsity football at Cupertino High
Keith Erickson Homestead - Pitched for the Baltimore Orioles; pitched a no-hitter and had a 20-win season
1988
Joe Farwell Los Gatos - Played for the University of Oregon
Jeff Garcia Gilroy - Played at San Jose State University, then in the the Canadian Football League. He is now the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.
1989
Brent Evans Oak Grove - Played for San Jose State University.
Lee Evans Was on the coaching staff for this All Star game and later became head coach at Oak Grove High, . This was the first All Star game with a father coaching his son.
Dan Lloyd Co-Head Coach and was a local star at James Lick and later joined the University of Washington and the NFL New York Giants.
1990
Ryan Hancock Monta Vista - Played for Brigham Young University
1992
Darren Fisk Los Gatos - Started at fullback for the University of Colorado. Taken in the 1998 draft by the Atlanta Falcons.
Joe Cattolico Leigh - Played for Princeton University. Now the head coach at Independence.
Butch Cattolico Coached this All Star game and was the second father to coach his son.
1993
Brad Sanfilippo Los Gatos - Played baseball for the University of California at Davis.
1994
Pat Tillman Leland - Started as outside linebacker for Arizona State University. In 1997, he was an All Pac-10 player and the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year. He was a starting defensive back for the Arizona Cardinals, but left professional football to join the military and was killed in Afghanistan.
Jeff Menold Lynbrook - Male Athlete of the Year at Linfield College in Oregon after an All-Conference Senior season as the third baseman on the baseball team. He worked as a wide receivers coach for the football team in the fall of 1997.
1995
Gus Farwell Los Gatos - Was the back-up quarterback for Arizona State in the 1997 Rose Bowl
Derek Krug Los Gatos - Played football for the University of Oregon
Adam Swantko Pioneer - Played rugby at Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo
1997
Nathan Jackson Pioneer - Played for Menlo College; played for the San Francisco 49ers; now playing for the Denver Broncos where he caught 5 passes in 11 games last season and also started on special teams.
Josh Rogers Los Gatos - Played for the University of South Carolina.
Gibril Wilson Oak Grove - Played college football at Tennessee. He was drafted by the New York Giants and was a member of the Super Bowl champion Giants in 2008. Traded this season to the Oakland Raiders.
1998
Tully Banta-Cain Fremont - Played for UC Berkeley; played four seasons as a linebacker for the New England Patriots, with 43 tackles and 5.5 sacks last season; now with the San Francisco 49ers.
B.J. Brust Bellarmine - Played for UC Davis
Adam Herzing Bellarmine - Played for Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo; went on to play for the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe.
1999
Jon Barragon Oak Grove - Played for UC Davis
Grant Mattos St Francis - Played for USC
Austin Neale Los Gatos - Played for Whitworth College

2000
Jared Allen Los Gatos - Played for Idaho State; Pro Bowl defensive end for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2007, now with the Minnesota Vikings.
Andy Heiser Santa Clara - Played for University of Nevada
300 yards passing against Univ of Washington and SJSU
David Macchi Willow Glen - Played at West Valley College; was a Division IAA All-American at Valparaiso University. In 2005, played for Italy's Bergamo Lions in the European Football League.
